Conrod Application Report

Project Details

The customer was looking for a way to remove the need for oiling and de-oiling when shipping product between its two group sites, from the UK to India. They also wanted to be able to bulk pack product in order to reduce the volume of physical packaging material.

Previous Problems

The customer wanted to eliminate or reduce the costs of oiling product, and also to minimise the processes in their shipping method. The destination site did not want to de-oil the shipped product in order to also benefit from a cost and time saving. Their previous method entailed individually oiling items, which were then placed between layers of oiled paper, to sit on dividers within a pack, and finally surrounded by an all-encompassing preservation bag.

Revised Packaging Solution

One Intercept 2 bag and virgin material dividers with holes allowing air flow within the pack, and a small amount of desiccant.

Benefits and Improvement

Toorak’s solution provided the customer with an oil-free shipping solution, and also a reduction in physical packaging, in a process which could be integrated into existing packing processes.
