Air Coolers Application
Project Details
20 air coolers transported by road from manufacturer to end customer based in northern England. Air coolers were to be stored outside for period of up to 2 years until required as replacements.
Previous Problems
Limited internal storage meant that it was not feasible to store 20 air coolers simultaneously. The use of tarpaulin in a very exposed location close to the sea was known to be inadequate.
Revised Packaging Solution
Using Intercept meant that the air coolers could be strapped onto open vehicles for transportation without additional covering. One layer of Intercept shrink film and one layer of power-shrink film also allowed for outdoor storage for the period of time in conditions conducive to corrosion.

Benefits and Improvement
The air cooler manufacturer discussed the use of Intercept at length with his end customer before obtaining agreement to adopt this solution for protection of the air coolers since it was perceived to be expensive. When the first 4 air coolers were delivered to the end customer, Toorak personnel visited the site to inspect the integrity of the packaging which was found to be intact. In December 2014 the manufacturer received a further order for 8 air coolers by the end user. This time the order stipulated that the air coolers were to be shrink-wrapped using Intercept.
